The flagship robot vacuum of 2026, the one with the little arm that picks socks up off the floor, has an international price of about 1,300 to 1,600 US dollars. In Dubai I have found it listed at 6,499 AED in one shop and 9,499 AED in another. Same machine, same box, nearly twice the price.

All local prices include the 5% VAT. So VAT explains a twentieth of the gap and nothing else does.
Where the rest of the difference goes
Some of it is legitimate and you are getting something for it:
- Import duty and shipping. 5% duty on the landed value, plus freight for a bulky item.
- Type approval. Anything with WiFi needs regulatory approval in the UAE, which costs real money per model and gets spread across the units sold.
- A warranty that exists here. This is the big one. If your robot fails in month four, a local seller replaces it. A box bought abroad becomes a freight problem at your expense.
- Stock sitting in a warehouse so you get it this week instead of in three.
And some of it is simply that the shop can. A robot vacuum is a considered purchase people research for weeks, but almost nobody compares the Dubai price against the international one, because the international one is not what they would actually pay.
The rule of thumb. Somewhere around 30 to 40 percent above the international price is a fair local price with real warranty and local delivery. Double is not a service premium, it is just a high price.
Is the arm worth it?
The arm is the headline feature of the top model and it is real, but it is narrower than the video suggests. It recognises a closed list of object types and it will not lift anything heavier than about 300 grams. It moves a sock, a slipper or a tissue out of the way before vacuuming that patch of floor.
That is genuinely useful and it is not the same as tidying your house. If your floor is covered in toys every evening, this robot moves a few of them and vacuums around the rest. Buy it because it vacuums and mops extremely well, and treat the arm as a bonus.
What I would actually buy
If you want the best cleaning per dirham, the tier below the flagship does 95% of the job for around 5,000 AED, because hot-water mopping and a self-emptying dock matter more day to day than a robotic arm does. If you want the arm, buy the flagship, but do not pay 9,499 AED for it.
